World Cup Bobsledding!

So this past weekend in Park City they held the World Cupt Bobsled Competition. My friend Anne and I decided we would head up to the Olympic Park to check it out. Boy was I glad we did, it was AWESOME! You literally stand right next to the coarse, so you are like not even 5 feet from the track as the sled goes by. I seriously don't think I have seen anything cooler. So here are a few of the millions of pictures we took. This seriously made my night. I totally saw the Jamaician Bobsled Team!!
GO USA!!! They did a good job, coming in 2nd place behind the Swiss!

Another sled zooming past us going past us at 80 mph. Can you see how tucked in the back person is? And all the pushers we saw were BIG GUYS!
All in all though, This was one of the coolest things I have done. Thanks Anne for a great night!

So a few weeks ago my friends and I went to Gardner's Village for the Witches night out. I had never been before, but what a treat it was. I have never in my life seen so many women dressed up as witches in my life! It was a lot of fun just walking around people watching! We definately had a great time drinking hot chocolate and eating scones and honey butter! YUM! Here are a few pictures of our night!

Nothing better than a Good Friend and a Soccer Game!

The players getting ready to start!

The flags of all the countries participating in soccer

The national anthem with the biggest flag I have ever seen.

They had two skydivers come onto the field to deliver the game ball!

As most of you know the MLS All-Star game was last night in Salt Lake. And you better believe I would be there. There is nothing I love more than a soccer game. There is just something about the sun beating into your eyes, the smell of a mixture of fresh cut grass and the sweat, and looking at 22 hot men run around. I know it sounds weird, but I absolutely love it. And what more can you ask for then watching the best of the best play the game while watching it with a great friend. I definately had a blast. Even though the All-Star team lost, it was still a very intense and exciting game. The game ended in a 1-1 tie so they determined the game in a shoot out. I personally feel like this is the worst way to lose, but it was awesome to watch. I have never seen a perfessional soccer game be determined that way, they usually go into over time until someone scores. For those of you who don't know what a shoot out is, it is where 5 players from each team take turns taking a shot on goal. It is between the player and the goalie. So the first round of 5 started and it ended up being a tie again with 3-3. So then they start another round but this time it is just 1 player goes from one team and then one from the other until one misses. So it started Everett FC went and scored, then all-stars were next and they missed so that ended the game. But I will tell you it is so excited watching a shoot out. I had such a great time and I can't wait for the World Cup qualifier in September!

Who would have thought the Great Basin could be so much fun?

What a fun weekend I just had. So my friends Anne, Erica, and Arilee decided to take a little road trip to the Great Basin in Baker NV. Random I know, all of us were a little weary about, but decided what the heck lets try it out. Good choice on our part, because I think each of us had the best time of our lives! Words can hardly explain our trip. Baker NV is quite the place! Pretty much all I can say is that this trip was PRICELESS! So our story begins here, we started out at the visitors center and the worker there told us that we better start looking for a camp site because they were filling up fast. We were kind of taken by surprise because I think all of us thought we would be the only ones in the Great Basin that weekend, but boy were we wrong. It took us over an hour and a half to find a spot because all four campsites were full, so we ended up staying in a site with no facilities! :( But we had a prime spot all to ourselves!! Once we found the spot we had heard there was cowboys poetery going on and we weren't about to miss out on that. Boy are we glad we went.... IT WAS AWESOME! After it was over we had a chance to meet the famous cowboys and they told us about the parade and booth happening in the morning that we just had to go to! Once we didn't miss out. The Parade in Baker was AWESOME! Nothing can beat a small town parade. ( I mean small town, the whole town consist of 25 people) Sure enough I totally scored a bargin at the booths. This town had the parade and booths for a fundraiser. Because I guess some guy from Vegas wants to take the water rights and ship water from there to Vegas, taking all there water and BAKER IS NOT HAPPY! So hence trying to raise money they did these booths. We I totally scored I got the whole 4 book series of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants for $1.50. Can't be that! Now we are to the part where words can't describe the rest of out trip. Lets just say Baker has one heck of a sense of HUMOR! They had the craziest things on the side of the road that my friends and I spend the rest of the afternoon taking pictures because we knew no one would believe us without proof! We ended our trip with a tour of the Lehman Caves. It was an hour and a half tour through this amazing cave. It was awesome the only way to show you is to see it for yourself, it is pretty amazing. It was definately one of the best trips of my life. I don't think I have laughed that hard in a really long time. There is nothing like spending time with good friends and having a good laugh for 36 hours straight. Gas to Baker $40, Food $18, Tour of Cave $10, seeing the town of Baker PRICELESS!!! So these pictures aren't even close to everything so there will be more pictures to come. The first picture is all of us with our finger friends! The second picture is me enjoying my awesome Ice cream cone. The 3rd picture is called the parachute in the Lehman cave. The 4th picture is one of the many things you see on the side of the road while traveling through Baker, this is a picture of Too Tall Tom. Finally the last picture is the first thing you see when you enter into Baker, and seriously WHOA is the word that comes to mind when you think of Baker.

Viva Las Vegas

What a week! Last week my mom, dad and myself went down toLas Vegas to see my sister and her family. We managed to do a whole lot, but then not alot at the same time. It was a lot of fun to spend time with my family and see all there was to see. The first day we were there we went up to Red Rock canyon. It was pretty, but way to hott to be hiking around. 108 degrees is not my idea of a good time. We also went and saw a free movie with the kids and had our picture taken in front of the Wecome to Las Vegas sign. It was pretty funny to see several brides and grooms having there wedding pictures in front of the sign. Some day maybe I will be able to do that! ;) We went to the Beligo and saw the fountain and the garden it was pretty cool cause they had real birds in the garden. We also went on a tour to the Ethel M's Chocolate Factory. Which anyone who knows me knows that I love chocolate so I pretty much ejoyed myself. We finished off our trip with a lot of swimming and fireworks for the 4th of July. It was a blast hanging out with my sister's beautiful kids, but we did have one mishap. My sister has a coffee table in her front room and the top of it is glass. All week we kept telling the kids to stop climbing on it because we didn't want to have to glass break. Well on the 4th we were getting ready to leave to go see fireworks and I sat on the edge of the table where there is wood to put my nephews shoes on. Yes I was holding my 1 year old nephew. I didn't really thinking I was sitting on the glass, but apparently I have a big but. My 3 year old niece saw me sitting there so she decided to climb up and just like that, my niece, myself, and my nephew went right through the glass. OOPS! It could have been a lot worse than it was. We only had two cuts, one on my nieces back and one on my ankle. Nothing like making you feel like a totally fatty then breaking through a coffee table. Sorry about the coffee table sister! Other than that we had great time in Fabulous Las Vegas.

Another Crafty day!

Here is the inside with a built in pocket for my cell phone and a pen!

Sorry I couldn't get it to rotate, but isn't it cute?

So my roommate Marianne really likes to sew and I am always telling her she needs to teach me, because she makes the cutest stuff. Well last week I went with her to this fabric shop and I found the cutest material. Marianne talked me into getting the fabric and that I should make a bag. So I did, yesterday we went to find handles for the bag and we couldn't find any we liked, so we decided to buy some beads and make a beaded handle. The beads we found didn't match so we bought paint and painted them last night. We weren't sure if they would turn out but we still did it. So this morning we got started on the bag. All I can say is that I am so impressed with myself that I made such a cute bag. I think they turned out so cute and our beaded handles are so cute! This was my first sewing project in like 10 year and I think I did a mighty fine job! Let see what you think!

Small town girl + jetted bath tub= A REALLY BIG MESS!

So as most of you know, I just moved down to Orem on Friday. As excited as I was about moving away from Logan for a major change in my life, I was just as excited about my new apartment! Let's just say out of the 4 years I have lived away from home, this new place is definately the nicest! I moved into a condo, that one of my roommates owns, so it's really taken care of. As sad as it sounds, I was really excited because my new apartment has a fridge that has the ice maker/water dispenser, and it also has a jetted bath-tub, and to everyone's amazement I have never had either one of these Luxuries in my whole life. Well here is where the story begins. Tonight I wasn't feeling very good, and I had kind of had a bad day, so I decided it was a perfect night to take a bath in my jetted tub. Well figuring it couldn't be that hard to take a bath I got in. So I started the water and added my favorite bubble bath. And of coarse, anyone who knows me, knows I don't have patients. I wonder to myself wether I needed to wait for the water to rise above the jets, but figured I would be okay. To my amazement the jets started up and started shooting water full blast out of the jets. Bubbles started raising up like river in the spring time and water and bubbles are going EVERYWHERE! In a mad panic I started getting hold of the shower curtain to try and stop showering the rest of the bathroom, but that didn't work. Water was shooting into my face, causing me to not SEE a thing, and every second that goes by my bathroom is getting flooded by suds. Finally the water reached it's height where it should have been prior to turning on the jets and my blood pressure finally went down. When I finally got my composure, and could see again, there were suds everywhere and water dripping from the ceiling. So much for my relaxing bubble bath, but I did get a pretty good laugh at myself after a pretty rough day! :)

What happened to SPRING?

So this past week up here in Logan has been so nice! All of the snow has melted and it's beginning to look like spring time! I have had the worst spring fever! I can hardly wait for the flowers to bloom, the grass to turn green, and the birds to be chirping! That is until today when I woke to this! Look at these pictures! I think so far Logan has got a foot and a half of snow! Can you believe it! Look at the snow on top of the fire hydrant!
It's looking pretty wintery out there!

Snow falling as I was leaving for work this morning!

My car covered in snow. And it looked even worse tonight as I was leaving work! Twice today I had to scrap that much snow off my car! YUCK!
Well I definately realized today that I really really hate winter, and I definately live in the wrong place! I guess all I can to is hope for SPRING to come SOON!

Pay it forward!

I saw this on my sister Tara's blog, and decided I would try it. So here it goes, and since not many people read my blog, I shouldn't have to do much! Here's how it works-the first 5 people to leave a comment on this post will receive, at some point during the year, a handmade gift from me. What it will be and when it will arrive is a total surprise! The catch is that you must participate as well-before you leave your comment here, write up a pay it forward post on your blog to keep the fun going. Then come back, let me know you're going to play, and sit back and anticipate the arrival of your gift! Remember that only the first 5 comments will receive a gift from me, so be quick!"This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!

2. It'll be done this year (hopefully sooner than later.)

3. You will have no clue what it is going to be.

4. What I make, may be strange. Who knows!

Crafty Mary's Back!

Marianne and Me is our cute towel wraps!
My wrap, isn't the towel so cute?

So this weekend I went down to Orem to see my friend Marianne! She is a very crafty person and has always got a new project on her hands. Well you can't really blame her, because she teacher in the home-ec department. While we were out shopping I found this really cute towel wrap that has straps so it stays on once your out of the shower. I thought about buying it, when Marianne say's I have a really cute pattern to make those and I have been wanting to make one. So we decided to have a craft day and make us a towel wrap. I think they turned out pretty cute, don't you? It was a lot of fun, and I think now that I know how to make them they would be a cute gift. Thanks Marianne for showing me how to make these and for teaching me how to sew on a button! I had never done it until now, I think I did an okay job!

Kathy Van Zeeland

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am obessed with Kathy Van Zeeland purses! They are so cute, I just love them. It's a really bad addiction I have, when every couple of months I find myself on the lookout for a new Kathy bag. Well a few months ago I was shopping looking for a purse when I spotted a Kathy overnight bag. I freaked, because I had been looking for a cute overnight bag and to my amazement I found one and it just so happened to be a Kathy. So of coarse I bought. Since then, in the back of my mind I had been wondering if there was such a thing as a matching Luggage set to go with my bag. I might have expensive taste, but I'm cheap when it comes to buying my purses. I'm a frequent shopper of Ross and T.J Maxx, so my odds of finding the matching set is little to none! Well this weekend I went down to visit an old roommate of mine that lives in Orem. We decided we would hit up Ross to see if we could strike a deal. To my amazement I just so happened to look over and spot the matching travel duffle bag with a pull handle and wheels. I almost started to jump up and down and scream. Well of coarse I bought it and went on the rest of my day shopping. But my friend didn't find what she was looking for so she asked if it was okay if we went to the Ross and T.J. Maxx in Provo. I said okay and wasn't expecting anything. Sure enough what did I find, but the matching suit case. I seriously freaked and just kept saying it's just meant to be and I was supposed to have this! So I purchased it and now I'm on a hunt to get the rest of the Luggage set. I have a ways to go because I think it's an 11 piece set, but I'm on my way with 3! YAY!! My adorable suit case!
The very cute duffle bad!

The 3 piece set!

Looks like I'm all set to take a trip! I'm thinking Hawaii is calling my name!

Happy Holidays!

Wow it's been awhile since I have posted anything. But I guess the same excuse applies that it's just a busy time of year. I can hardly even remember what I have done that last month, because it flew by and came and went so fast. It's actually kind of sad that the holiday season is already over with for another year. I love the holiday season, it's my favorite, there is just something about surrounding yourself with family and remembering what the season is all about that makes it so special. Well as always I had a wonderful Christmas. It was so good to be home for as long as I was and to spend time with the fam! We had a good time! Thanks to my parents getting me a Wii! It sure did entertain us all week long. On Christmas Eve we always get together with Grandma, and all of our Aunts, Uncles and Cousins, and have a little program. It is always a good time. This is my Cute grandma Spendlove with my nephew Gabe!
